SnugTales ("we," "our," or "us") operates the SnugTales mobile application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored securely and never in plain text).

Family profile: To personalize stories, you may provide your children's first names, ages, and story preferences (themes, characters, moral lessons). This information is provided voluntarily by you, the parent or guardian.

Usage data: We collect basic logs of app activity (e.g. stories generated, features used) to improve the service.

Voice recordings (optional): If you choose to use the Parent Voice feature, you can record your own voice so stories can be narrated in it. This is entirely optional and only ever captures the voice of the consenting adult account holder. See the dedicated section below.

How We Use Your Information

To communicate service updates or account information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Children's Privacy

SnugTales is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All accounts are created and managed by adults. Children's names and ages entered into the app are used solely to personalize stories and are not shared with third parties.

Voice Recordings (Parent Voice)

SnugTales offers an optional Parent Voice feature that lets you record your own voice so bedtime stories can be narrated in it. This feature is off by default and used only if you choose to enable it.

Consent: Before any recording is created, you must explicitly confirm that the voice is your own and that you consent to creating a voice model from it. You should only record your own voice.
How it's used: Your recording is sent to our AI voice provider to create a voice model linked to your account, which is then used solely to narrate stories within your own account. It is not used to train models, not shared, and not used for any other purpose.
Sensitive data: A voice recording and the resulting voice model may be considered biometric or sensitive personal data. We process it only with your consent and only to provide this feature.
Deletion: You can delete a recorded voice at any time in the app. Doing so permanently removes the stored recording and deletes the voice model from our AI voice provider. Deleting your account removes all of your voice data automatically.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely with industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data

Third-Party Services

To generate your stories, story prompts and the child profile details you provide may be sent to third-party AI providers. If you use narration or the optional Parent Voice feature, story text and (for Parent Voice) your voice recording are sent to a third-party AI voice provider to produce the audio. These providers use this information solely to deliver the requested story or audio — not to train their models or for any other purpose. We do not share your information with any other third parties for advertising or marketing.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice.
