A Blanket Fort for Two
One rainy afternoon, a little boy named Max decided to build the greatest blanket fort the world had ever seen.
He gathered every pillow in the house. He draped the softest blankets over the chairs. He tucked in fairy lights that twinkled like little stars. And when it was done, it was magnificent — warm and glowing and cozy.
Max crawled inside and looked around at his wonderful fort.
It was perfect.
But after a little while, sitting all alone in his perfect fort… Max felt just a tiny bit lonely.
Then he heard a small sniffle. His little sister Mia was peeking around the doorway, holding her stuffed rabbit, watching the fort with big wishful eyes.
Max looked at his fort. Then he looked at his sister. And he lifted up the corner of the blanket.
“Want to come in?” he asked.
Mia’s whole face lit up. She scrambled inside, rabbit and all, and snuggled down beside him in the soft glow of the fairy lights.
And do you know what? The fort that had felt lonely a moment ago now felt warm and wonderful and full of giggles.
The two of them told stories and made shadow puppets on the blanket walls, until their eyes grew heavy and their voices grew soft.
“This is the best fort ever,” Mia whispered sleepily.
“It is now,” said Max, smiling. “Because you’re in it.”
And the two of them fell fast asleep, cuddled up together in the coziest, happiest fort of all.
The end. 🏕️
