Milo and the Midnight Train
When the clock struck bedtime, a little boy named Milo heard a soft sound at his window. Chug… chug… chug…
There, floating just outside, was the Midnight Train — silver and glowing, with warm yellow windows and a curl of cloud for smoke.
“All aboard for Dreamland,” called the sleepy conductor. “Nice and slow.”
Milo climbed into a cozy seat, soft as a marshmallow, and the train began to move — slowly, gently, chug… chug… chug…
Out the window, the whole world drifted by. First came the starlit meadow, where sleepy rabbits nibbled moon-grass and blinked their tired eyes.
Then came the quiet village, every little house dark and snug, every child tucked in tight.
Then came the river of dreams, smooth as glass, with the moon floating on top like a silver boat.
The train rocked gently, back and forth, back and forth. Milo’s eyes grew heavy. His breathing grew slow — in like the train breathing in, out like the train breathing out.
“Next stop,” the conductor whispered, “Dreamland.”
And as the train slid softly into the last cozy station, Milo was already fast asleep, off on the very best adventure of all.
The end. 🚂
