The Northern Lights' Secret
Far up north, where the snow glitters and the nights are long, lived a little arctic fox named Frost, white as the snow itself.
Every night, Frost watched the sky fill with dancing colors — ribbons of green and purple and pink, swirling and shimmering high above. The Northern Lights.
“Where do they come from?” Frost wondered. He simply had to find out.
So one clear, cold night, Frost climbed to the top of the highest snowy hill to watch as closely as he could.
And as he watched, an old and gentle snowy owl landed softly beside him.
“Do you want to know the secret of the lights?” the owl asked kindly.
“Oh, yes!” said Frost.
The owl looked up at the shimmering colors. “Those,” she said softly, “are the dreams of sleeping children, all around the world. When a child falls asleep and begins to dream something wonderful, their dream floats up, up, up into the sky — and glows.”
Frost’s eyes went wide. “So all those colors…”
“…are happy dreams,” said the owl. “The green ones are dreams of running through summer fields. The purple ones are dreams of magic. The pink ones are dreams of being loved.”
Frost watched the lights dance, and now they seemed more beautiful than ever — because now he knew they were full of joy.
“I’d like to add a dream of my own,” Frost yawned.
“Then you must sleep,” smiled the owl.
So Frost curled into a soft white ball in the snow, closed his eyes, and began to dream — and high above, a brand new ribbon of shimmering light, silver and warm, danced its way across the sky.
The end. ❄️
