The Sleepy Little Bear

In a warm den beneath a snowy hill lived a little bear cub named Bramble.

All the other bears were yawning big, sleepy yawns. “Winter is here,” they rumbled softly. “Time for a long, cozy sleep.”

But Bramble did not want to sleep. “If I sleep,” he worried, “I might miss something!”

His mother smiled and pulled him close. “Come, little one. Let me show you.”

She tucked a soft leaf blanket around him. Snug. She hummed a low, warm hum that buzzed like faraway bees. Cozy. And she whispered all the things that would still be waiting when he woke: the melting snow, the first green shoots, the trickle of the spring stream.

“Sleep isn’t goodbye,” she whispered. “It’s a rest between two happy days.”

Bramble’s eyes grew heavy. His breathing slowed. The den was warm and dark and smelled of pine and honey.

And as he drifted off, he dreamed of springtime, of berries and butterflies — and every dream was waiting for him, just as his mother had promised.

Goodnight, little bear. 🐻
