The Two Little Clouds

High in the summer sky floated two little clouds named Nimbus and Cirra. They were the smallest clouds of all, and they often felt they were too tiny to matter.

Down below, a meadow of flowers drooped in the heat. “Water,” the flowers whispered. “Please, we need water.”

Nimbus wanted to help. He squeezed and squeezed, trying to make rain — but he was too small, and only one little drop fell out. Plip. It wasn’t nearly enough.

Cirra tried too. She squeezed with all her might — but only one drop came from her, as well. Plip.

The two little clouds felt sad. “We’re just too small,” they sighed.

But then Cirra had an idea. “What if,” she said, “we join together?”

So the two little clouds drifted close, closer, until they merged into one bigger, fluffier cloud. And now, when they squeezed together — whoosh! — a lovely soft rain came tumbling down.

The rain pattered gently over the whole meadow. The flowers lifted their heads and drank. The grass turned green. The whole world below sparkled with fresh, cool drops.

“We did it!” cheered the two clouds. “Together!”

And as the sun set behind them, painting the sky pink and gold, the two little clouds — now the happiest clouds in the sky — drifted off together to rest.

The end. ☁️
